School
education in New Zealand is for 13 years, beginning
at the age of 5. Secondary school includes form
3 to form 7. After form 7, students take the university
entrance examination.

Education
In
New Zealand, education is free and compulsory
between the age of 6 and 15 years. Primary or
Elementary schools are managed by the government
or privately, generally by the church. Secondary
schools are for provide the last 5 years of formal
education which prepares students for university
and other types of tertiary education and vocational
training. In the highr education sector, new Zealand
has 7 universities. The government pays full or
part of the educational costs for two thirds of
students enrolled in the universities.
Secondary
Education
Forms (classes) 3 to 7 are the secondary classes
which students enter at the age f 13 years. The
curriculum in secondary schools is based on guidelines
set by the ministry of Education. In forms 3 and
4, core subjects are English, science; math's,
social sciences and co- curricular subjects are
music, art, craft and physical education. In form
5, English, math's and science are compulsory
and students choose from art, commerce, technology
and languages. Form 5 is equivalent to the Indian
std 10 exams.
Students who get satisfactory grades in form 5go
to form 6. Form 6 examination is an internal examination
after which they are awarded a Sixth Form Certificate,
which is a grade card. Students of Form 6 can
select the following subjects-

Entrance Bursary and Scholarship Exams
Equivalent
to the Indian higher secondary or class XII examinations,
are the form 7examinations. These examinations
are the only accepted method of entry to new Zealand
degree courses for students completing forms 6
and 7 in new Zealand. For overseas students, equivalent
qualifications are recognized.
